Who I am

My name is Brad Perry. I am a graduate of Reformation Bible College in Sanford, Florida, where I earned a B.A. in Christian Thought. It was there that I first stepped into the depth of Christian history and began to understand the importance of knowing why I believe what I believe. I was introduced to the historical development of doctrine, the interpretation of Scripture, and a life shaped by thoughtful faith. Those years left a lasting mark on me. They also stood in contrast to my earlier nondenominational background, where much of the Christian life often felt detached from history and from a reverent engagement with the whole of Scripture, including its more difficult parts.

Today I work as a carpenter while pursuing a master’s degree in Classical Education at Templeton Honors College at Eastern University. I also study at the Ecclesiastical School of Byzantine Music, where I continue the study of Biblical Greek and the broader liturgical tradition of the Church.

Somewhere between returning home to Ohio, the steady discipline of hands-on labor, and many thoughts formed through books, prayer, and conversation, my own convictions continued to develop. That process eventually led me to explore the Orthodox Church. After becoming a catechumen and entering the Church, I continue to seek the Christian faith through lenses that are ancient and beautiful. This website is where I write about Orthodoxy, classical education, and the search for wisdom. It is a place to think through how ancient Christian faith and the classical tradition still speak to modern life, and how they help form the mind, heart, and soul in an age that often feels fragmented and restless.

These writings do not come from an ordained Pastor or Clergyman, but from a layman pursuing Christ who sincerely desires to seek truth through thoughtful dialogue.
